NEW DELHI: The principal of a government school in Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh, has been arrested for molesting three minor female students, according to police.
The 61-year-old accused had been involved in the crimes for an extended period, said Kotwali police station in-charge Arvind Jain.
The case came to light after the victims, all Class 11 students, filed a complaint.
Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage from the school.
A formal case was registered on Saturday after the school’s internal complaint committee, consisting of six members, submitted its investigation report.
The principal was arrested shortly after.
He has been charged under section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with the use of criminal force or assault on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
