The victim was tied up, hung upside down, and beaten with sticks. The assailants also burned him with chilli-infused burning embers. The incident was captured on video by onlookers, who, instead of intervening, chose to record the horrific act, said sources. The video has since gone viral on social media.

The victim's father filed a complaint with the police after seeing the video. He alleged that the accused falsely accused his son of stealing a watch. The victim himself revealed the details of the torture, stating that he was terrified and unable to speak about the incident for two days.

The police registered a case against the three accused, including Surendra Bawankar, and are investigating the matter.
