Wait to unveil ex-CMs’ statues at Mantralaya gets longer

Bhopal: There seems to be no end to the wait for unveiling of statues of former chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh, being installed on the state secretariat premises. Originally scheduled to open during the first week of July, there is no report when the statues will be unveiled for public. According to officials, the unveiling ceremony for busts of former chief ministers will be scheduled once a suitable date is fixed, when relatives of former chief ministers and government authorities can attend the ceremony. At the Mantralaya premises, statues of 14 former chief ministers, including Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla, Bhagwantrao Mandloi, Kailashnath Katju, Dwarika Prasad Mishra, Govind Narayan Singh, Raja Naresh Chandra Singh, Shyamacharan Shukla, Prakash Chandra Sethi, Kailash Chandra Joshi, Virendra Kumar Saklecha, Sunderlal Patwa, Arjun Singh, Motilal Vora and Babulal Gaur, are being set up. On June 17 this year, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had underlined the importance of inviting the relatives and acquaintances of all late chief ministers for the installation and unveiling ceremony. He said that every chief minister had played a pivotal role in the state’s development, and it was imperative to acknowledge their historical contributions for public welfare. He had proposed a grand, state-level programme to celebrate the opening ceremony.He had stressed the necessity to obtain consent of the relatives of former chief ministers regarding the installation of the statues, with the hope that they would also be involved in the unveiling ceremony. Despite the initial plan to hold the programme during the first week of July, the statues are still awaiting their unveiling.

CM unveils statue of Rabindranath Tagore

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has unveiled a life-size statue of Rabindranath Tagore at Queen Marys College in Chennai. The government's policy is to honor those who have made significant contributions to Tamil language, culture, social justice, and fine arts. Tagore, fondly called Gurudev, was the recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 for his work Gitanjali. The unveiling ceremony was attended by several state ministers.

Preparations on for unveiling of Adi Shankaracharya statue

The local administration in Indore is making elaborate arrangements for the unveiling of Adiguru Shankaracharya's statue in Ekatma Dham in Omkareshwar. Over 4,000 rooms will be booked and 400 vehicles acquired for the 5,000 religious leaders and dignitaries expected to attend the event. The Ekatma Dham project, spread over 28 acres and costing around Rs 2,000 crore, includes a museum, a garden, gufa mandir, and Abhay Ghat. A week-long programme has been planned from September 14, with the unveiling of the statue proposed on September 18.

Birsa Munda statue unveiled at city airport

A statue of tribal revolutionary Birsa Munda was unveiled at Ranchi's Birsa Munda International Airport. The statue, made of iron, was commissioned by Coal India Limited (CCL) as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative. The unveiling ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto and Rajya Sabha MPs. The statue was created by a local artist, according to CCL.
