Bhubaneswar: Two women from Khurda district’s Banapur area were admitted to Capital Hospital’s ICU in critical condition after they allegedly tried to end their lives by consuming poison at Lower PMG on Sunday evening. The women were identified as Manasi Behera and Bigyani Panda, both in their 40s.
According to the police, three women, including Behera and Panda, were protesting at the designated dharna site at Lower PMG, demanding resolution of a long-standing land dispute. “When they were on dharna, our personnel were present as it is a designated protest site. Banapur police were called to take them back and resolve their issue,” said DCP Jagmohan Meena. Before they were preparing to leave, the women went to the public toilet and there they allegedly consumed poison, the DCP said.
