The prominent candidates for this year are Pratap Chandra Sarangi from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Srikant Kumar Jena from Indian National Congress (INC), and Lekhasari Samantsinghar from Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Pratap Chandra Sarangi from BJP won with 4,83,858 votes, followed by Rabindra Kumar Jena from BJD who got 4,70,902 votes.


In the 2014 elections, Rabindra Kumar Jena from BJD won the election with 4,33,768 votes, followed by Pratap Chandra Sarangi from BJP with 2,91,943 votes.

Balasore has a diverse population, with a mix of urban and rural areas. The constituency comprises a significant number of voters from various communities.

Approximately, 18.7 per cent are Scheduled Caste (SC), 18.59 per cent are Scheduled Tribe (ST), and 5 per cent are Muslim, as per the voter data.
