Cong plans protest in Rayagada

KORAPUT: Congress has threatened to gherao the private company in Rayagada district demanding compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of Sulabati Naik (32), a heavily pregnant woman who died after childbirth on Wednesday following her release from jail. She was among 13 women arrested on December 16 for demanding jobs in the company situated close to their homes.

"It is learnt that Utkal Aluminium International Limited (UAIL) have declared a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the deceased's family, job to her husband and will take care of the education of their 10-year-old daughter, " said Koraput Congress MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka. But we reiterate our demand for compensation of Rs 1 crore for the family, he added.
