Majhi said this incentive would encourage them to perform very well in the Olympics and bring glory to the country.

"They have made Odisha, including their native places, proud. Their strong willpower, hard work, perseverance, and good performance will inspire new talents in the state. I wish them good luck," he added.

"The state government is committed to providing all necessary help, including financial assistance and infrastructure, to hone talents in sports," he added.

In 2023, the Odisha government had given a cash award of Rs 1.5 crore to Kishore Jena for his outstanding performance in the Asian Games-2023, which was organised in Hangzhou, China.

He bagged a silver medal and confirmed his berth in the upcoming Paris Olympics-2024.
