Odisha's hospitals, healthcare providers fully equipped to combat Cyclone Dana

BHUBANESWAR: Health authorities have asked hospitals and healthcare providers to remain alert during any emergency situation that might arise from heavy rainfall in northern and coastal parts of the state under the influence of Cyclone Dana.

Govt will make anti-venom injections available at primary health centres (PHCs) to provide immediate relief to snakebite victims.

The health department is deploying healthcare professionals to hospitals in areas likely to be affected by the cyclone to provide services.

Director of public health, Nilakantha Mishra, said they are conducting meetings with officials of 14 districts likely to be affected through videoconferencing to discuss the preparedness of hospitals and healthcare providers.

“We are shifting pregnant women to hospitals for their safe delivery and proper care. Emergency medicine, drinking water, anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) and anti-venom have been made available at hospitals,” said Mishra.

“Diesel generators and inverters have been kept on standby for emergency use at hospitals. We have kept ambulances ready to shift patients to the hospitals immediately,” he added.
