Koraput awarded Rs 3cr under ADP for infra devpt
Koraput: The Centre has awarded Rs 3 crore to tribal-dominated Koraput district under its aspirational districts programme (ADP) to accelerate its infrastructure development efforts.Koraput was included among the 112 aspirational districts due to its relatively slower progress in key social sectors. However, Koraput demonstrated remarkable improvement, particularly in infrastructure development, securing the third position in the national ranking of aspirational districts and the top spot in the eastern zone. The districts securing first and second positions are awarded with Rs 10 crore and Rs 5 crore, respectively."It is a proud moment for the district, and the achievement was possible due to the collective efforts of the entire administration. The cash reward will inspire us to accelerate our position and will be utilised to strengthen infrastructure in the district," said collector (Koraput), Keerthi Vasan V.Deputy director of planning (Koraput), Surya Behera, said the district achieved significant success in implementing key schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Gram Sadak Yojana, and providing Bharat Net connectivity across all 240 panchayats.Applauding Koraput's commitment to strengthen infrastructure as a catalyst for sustainable and inclusive development, NITI Aayog highlighted the district's progress in enhancing connectivity, public facilities and service delivery. In a post on X, NITI Aayog said that Koraput is making remarkable strides in strengthening basic infrastructure, ensuring better connectivity, improved public facilities and enhanced service delivery for its residents."By focusing on improving basic infrastructure, the district is laying a strong foundation for long-term growth and development. Special emphasis is being placed on rural and tribal communities, ensuring that every citizen benefits from these improvements. The awarded funds will be directed toward scaling innovative solutions, improving essential services, and strengthening local infrastructure, ensuring long-term socio-economic growth," the post read.ADP, under NITI Aayog, was launched in Jan 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
