Odisha IAS officers to donate one-day salary to Kerala flood victims

BHUBANESWAR: In order to help the flood-affected people of Kerala, the Odisha IAS officers have decided to donate their minimum one-day salary to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Kerala.

, told media here on Monday about this after discussing with their members. The association stands as one with the people of Kerala during this time of crisis and wishes them strength to overcome this tragedy, he added.

“People from all walks of life are engaged in efforts to provide relief to those affected by the floods. Odisha government has also deputed a special team to Kerala to provide humanitarian and disaster assistance. The association extends its full support for rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected people in Kerala,” said Dev.

Meanwhile, the state government has announced an additional financial assistance of Rs 5 crore for flood-ravaged Kerala from the

Chief Minister's Relief Fund

(CMRF), Odisha. This is in addition to the Rs 5 crore sanctioned earlier, official sources said.

Odisha will also send 500 MT of polythene sheets worth about Rs 8 crore to Kerala. Besides, the government has already sent 244 fire service personnel trained in rescue operations with 65 rescue boats and other equipment to Kerala to help the rescue operations.

On safety of Odias there, Labour department of Odisha has already sent officials to Kerala to ensure the safety of Odia labourers affected by floods. Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi said the government is in constant touch with authorities concerned in Kerala to ensure safety of Odias stuck there.
