Panchkula: As many as 21 Junior Basic Training (JBT) teachers on Wednesday shaved off their heads to register their protest against the Haryana government for not giving them permanent jobs.
A merit list of JBT teachers was declared by the education department on August 14, 2014, but JBT teachers were struggling to get jobs for past 21 months .
The protesters said a few candidates not in the merit list had filed a case in high court over some alleged mistake in giving marks in the interview conducted by the department. But the high court has now dismissed, they added.
Teachers who have installed their camp at behind Shiksha Sadan in Sector 5 were demanding jobs in the education department.
Rajendera Sharma, president of JBT Teachers Welfare Association, said, "This is the fourth day of our protest. We will continue our protest till the day government will not listen to our problem."
Virender Kumar from Mahendergarh, Virender Dhankar from Jind, Natwar Singh from Sonepat, Sandeep from Jhajjar, Bijender Kumar from Hisar and Sheetal from Ambala were among the protesters who shaved off their heads.Teachers who have installed their camp at behind Shiksha Sadan in Sector 5 were demanding jobs in the education department.
