3 arrested from near Indo-Bhutan border

Batala: The Punjab Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three persons linked to a foreign-based fugitive gangster Happy Jatt from the Indo-Bhutan border in West Bengal as they attempted to flee to Bhutan.Gaurav Yadav, director general of police (DGP), said the "Operation Nest Wrecker" was jointly carried out by the Anti-Gangster Task Force, Punjab, and the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell, Punjab.The arrested accused include Jatin Singh, Sajandeep Singh and Mehakdeep Singh.Yadav said as per the information, four unidentified assailants on two motorcycles opened fire on three persons in Bhoma village in Batala on April 27, around 9 pm. Two people succumbed to the bullet injuries, and another person was injured.The DGP said preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested accused acted on the directions of their foreign-based fugitive handler, Happy Jatt, and executed planned killings on his orders.The ADGP, AGTF, Promod Ban said that following the incident, police teams from the AGTF, Batala police, intelligence and technical units jointly carried out the investigation and analysed extensive CCTV footage from multiple locations.A case has already been registered under Sections 103 and 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act at police station Ghuman in Batala, he added.
