8 members of Canada-based extortion gang in police net

Mohali: Eight members of Prince-Rana gang, including two shooters, who were allegedly involved in a firing incident at Jhampur village in Mohali on June 8 have been arrested with arms and ammunition. Mohali police also claimed that the accused was also involved in firing incident outside a nightclub in Panchkula as wanted to extort money from the club owner. According to police, the gang was being operated from Canada by Prince Chauhan and Kala Rana to extort money from businessmen in the Tricity. Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg said the arrested accused were identified as Manvir Singh alias Manvir Rana, a resident of Chandi Mandir, Panchkula; Deepak Kumar alias Deepu of Panchkula; Parveen Kumar of Karnal, Haryana; Manish Saini of Chandi Mandir, Panchkula; Nikhil Kumar of Mohali; Rohit Kumar of Daddumajra; and Dikshat alias Dikshu, a resident of Panchkula.Rohit Gupta, a shopkeeper from Dhanas, had been injured in firing on June 8 .
