Food supplies inspector suspended for defying orders; minister Rajesh Nagar orders multiple FIRs at Kurukshetra grievance redressal meet
KURUKSHETRA: Haryana’s food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister Rajesh Nagar on Tuesday ordered the suspension of Food Supplies Department Inspector Naveen for defying official orders, based on the findings of an inquiry committee. The minister also directed the registration of cases in three separate matters, including against an inspector and a sub-inspector, after irregularities were established during the probe.
Presiding over the meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee at the auditorium of the new Mini Secretariat, in Kurukshetra, minister Nagar said strict action would be taken against officials found violating departmental rules.
Inquiry Officer and SDM Ladwa, Anubhav Mehta, informed the minister that the inspector had committed procedural lapses, including wrongful actions contrary to departmental norms. The inquiry also revealed that ration supply of villages had been wrongly linked with distant villages, causing inconvenience to beneficiaries. In another complaint, the father of a depot holder stated in writing that officials themselves had coerced him into giving incorrect statements.
Taking serious note of these findings, minister Nagar ordered the immediate suspension of Inspector Naveen and directed that FIRs be registered in three cases involving an inspector and a sub-inspector.
The meeting was attended by Kurukshetra DC Vishram Kumar Meena, SP Nitish Aggarwal, Thanesar MLA Ashok Arora, Shahabad MLA Ram Karan Kala, District BJP President Tejinder Singh Goldy, and other senior officials. Out of 15 complaints taken up during the meeting, nine were resolved on the spot. The DC formally welcomed the minister.
During the proceedings, the minister directed Kurukshetra University to verify Scheduled Caste and income certificates of complainant Simran from village Kataldi and waive her fee accordingly. Acting on a complaint by High Court advocate Amarjit Singh Virk, instructions were issued to the Shahabad Municipal Committee to demarcate the land and construct a road without encroaching upon the complainant’s property.
Several complaints—including those of Dinesh of KMG Milk Food Limited (Hinori Road, Ladwa), Sheetal Singh of Karah Sahib, Satpal of Kaulapur, CM Window complainant Gagan Kohli, Subhash of Chuniya Farm, Pehowa, and others—were filed after being resolved.
Action ordered in land encroachment case
On a complaint by Som Prakash and Gagandeep of Vishnu Colony, the minister directed the district administration and police to restore possession of the land purchased by the complainants and to register a case against those accused of forcible encroachment. The complainants alleged harassment and attempts to forcibly occupy their house after they had already taken possession.
Case to be registered if shop not repaired
Taking cognizance of a complaint by Bhimsen Chawla of Chhota Bazaar, Minister Nagar ordered that those responsible for demolishing his shop must repair it immediately. He directed the police to register a case if repairs were not carried out. Chawla alleged misbehavior and attempts to illegally कब्जा (occupy) his shop. Similar directions were issued for appropriate action on the complaint of Bala Devi from village Bodi.
Action against farmer for blocking culvert
On a complaint by Sachin Kumar and Sultan Singh of village Kheda, the minister ordered action against a farmer who allegedly blocked a government culvert by dumping soil in his field, thereby obstructing water flow across the road. The Public Works Department was instructed to reopen the culvert, as the blockage had led to waterlogging in nearby houses and farm shelters.
Two-member committee formed for hearing both sides
On the complaint of Manju Lata from Darra Kalan, Minister Nagar ordered the inclusion of two committee members to hear both parties. The complainant alleged that she was being prevented from constructing on a plot she had legally purchased and sought permission to proceed with construction. In another matter, on the demand of Sapna Devi from village Thaska Ali, the minister directed that the inquiry be conducted by a different Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Senior officers, including Zila Parishad Chairperson Kanwaljeet Kaur, SDMs Shashwat Sangwan, Anubhav Mehta, Anil Dutt, and Chinar, KDB CEO Pankaj Setia, Zila Parishad CEO Shambhu Rathi, DMC Aman Kumar, along with official and non-official members, were present at the meeting.
