HC judge visits Hisar courts

Hisar: Punjab and Haryana high court judge Harsimran Singh Sethi on Friday visited the district court complex here to meet advocates and listen to their grievances. Several advocates of the district bar association raised the issue of corruption in the local court during their interaction with the judge and complained of misbehaviour by judicial officers.Bar president Bansi Lal Godara put forward some demands on behalf of the lawyers, which were assured to be fulfilled as far as possible.During the interaction, one lawyer claimed that corruption was rampant in local courts. “Anyone can get a long or short date of their choice for Rs 200 to 500,” claimed the lawyer. At the same time, a female advocate said that as lawyers give full respect to judicial officers, the same is expected from the judicial officers too, but that is not the case in some courts in Hisar.Justice Sethi said, “Sometimes judges and magistrates may say something under the pressure of work, but respect should be there from both the sides. If a judge or magistrate behaves rudely due to workload, then you should give them the benefit of doubt.” TNN

Former SC judge releases lawyers book

Former Supreme Court judge Lavu Nageswara Rao released a book titled "Outpourings of a Trial Lawyer" written by senior advocate TVSK Kanakaraju. Rao emphasized the need to revamp the legal education system to enhance the knowledge and quality of lawyers. He praised the book for its insightful content, as Kanakaraju addresses crucial issues in the legal system that require attention.

Lawyers open fire; stampede in Hry court

A stampede occurred in a court in Sonipat, India when shots were fired during a fight between two groups of lawyers. The dispute, which started three days prior, escalated into violence. Surveillance footage is being used to identify the individuals involved. DCP Anshu Singla arrived at the scene to handle the situation, and cross-complaints have been filed by both parties. The conflict stemmed from a case related to a honeytrap. Police are investigating the evidence.
