Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana high court has allowed the plea of a man to divorce his wife, who according to the husband had a "venom-oozing tongue".
In this case, the HC noticed that the wife had also falsely implicated the husband and his family in a criminal case in which they were later acquitted by the trial court.

The main contention of the husband in this case was that his wife did not perform her matrimonial duties and would pick up quarrels over trifle matters and would insult his parents. It is further alleged that his wife has a “venom-oozing tongue”. She even threatened to involve the appellant and his family in a false dowry case.
“In our view, once criminal litigation is initiated it leads to a point of no return... Mediation attempts between the parties have failed... In our view, this conduct of the parties evidence that there are irreconcilable differences between them, rendering the marriage, as of today, a mere legal fiction,” observed the HC while dissolving the marriage.
