HC tells Bhola to refile plea for parole to attend mom’s last rites

Chandigarh: Key accused in Punjab’s multi-crore drug racket and dismissed state police DSP Jagdish Singh Bhola had to withdraw his petition, seeking parole to attend his mother’s bhog ceremony, from the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday as the court asked him to file the petition again with complete facts.
Bhola’s mother breathed her last on June 8 so he had approached the court seeking 15-day parole to take part in the rituals. The court observed that Bhola’s petition did not have complete details about where and when the rituals would be held which he wanted to attend. The high court had allowed Bhola a day’s parole on March 17 to meet his ailing mother. The Patiala central jail authorities had recovered a mobile from Bhola’s possession in May last year during a search operation.
Bhola, Arjuna awardee wrestler-turned cop-turned kingpin of over Rs 6,000 crore international synthetic drug racket, was arrested in November 2013. It was after Bhola’s arrest that the nexus of politicians, pharmaceutical industries, policemen, sports persons and NRIs in the illegal drug trade had come to the fore in Punjab.
