HSGMC demand quick arrest of culprits who cut their staffer’s hair, police yet clueless
KURUKSHETRA: Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) leaders on Monday asked Kurukshetra police to make quick arrest of culprits who forcibly cut the Kes (unshorn hair) of their staffer in Shahabad-Markanda area in the district in last week.
HSGMC spokesman Kawaljit Singh Ajrana held a press conference in Kurukshetra on Monday, where he said that the district police have not been able to arrest the wrong elements, who forcible cut the hair of Gurdwara employee Ratananmol Singh, when he was returning home in Shahabad, from his duty at Gurdwara Mardon Sahib in Ambala district.
“This is a very serious matter and we firmly stand with the victim in all aspects. With our intervention and talks with SP and DSP, a case was registered in this matter, but so far, no arrests have been made. We will soon meet the SP also. We again talked to the police demanding to make the arrests of the three accused persons. The police have assured that they are checking all the cameras and every possibility and would crack this case soon”, said Ajrana.
“I am in regular touch with the police and had a talk with DSP and SHO today as well. We have told the police officer in strict and clear words that the culprits should be held at the earliest as this case is related to a community. Knowing the intentions of the culprits behind committing such a crime in present circumstances is very important and they cannot be spared. We hope that the accused persons are behind the bar soon as this matter is related to Sikh affairs”, further said Ajrana adding that the HSGMC and Haryana Sikhs are making efforts to identify the culprits.
The HSGMC also released the visuals of Ratananmol Singh, being rescued by the villagers after the crime, in which he can be seen with hands tied under leg, without turban and shorn hair. For an initiated Sikh, it is mandatory due to Sikh code of conduct to keep Kes (unshorn hair) throughout the life, as it is one of the five Kakaars (symbols of faith).
The Kurukshetra police had registered a case in this matter under charges of assault, wrongful restraint, outraging religious feelings and snatching at Shahabad police station on November 4. This alleged crime took place on November 3.
Shahabad SHO inspector Satish Kumar said, “Our teams are still investigating this matter. We are looking into the CCTV camera recordings and so far, we do not have any clue about the culprits. We have apprised about our investigation to HSGMC office-bearers.”
