Insurance fraud: Pinjore man duped of ₹1 lakh
Panchkula: A resident of Pinjore, looking to break his life insurance before maturity, got duped of Rs 1 lakh when a unknown person made a call to help him in getting his interest amount as well. The police has registered a case of fraud. A complaint was given to the police by Ranbir Singh, a resident of HMT Pinjore. He told the police that his wife Sunita Devi had one insurance policy with PNB Met Life and they decided to break it before maturity as they needed some money. Ranbir met some person working with the insurance firm in Sector-17 Chandigarh and discussed how to withdraw money from the policy. The person told him that out of Rs 1.22 lakh, he will be given only Rs 80,000 for breaking the policy in between. The victim had gone home to discuss it with his wife. In the meantime, he received a call from an unknown person named Shubhash Gupta working with the same insurance firm in Sector-17 Chandigarh. Shubhash told him that he can help him in getting the full amount to him and also told him that it is his right to get the full deposited money back. The victim believed the caller and decided to give all his details as demanded to the caller.
