, who survived on selling milk, poisoned himself to death on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday following the death of his buffalo.

Sukha had borrowed money from fellow villagers and was under stress for not being able to return the amount. What further precipitated the crisis was the death of his buffalo which was his only source of income after he was forced to sell his two acres of land a few years back.

Police said a case under Section (unnatural death) 174 of CrPC had been registered. Ramesh Bhardwaj, investigating officer (IO) from Lehragaga police station, said, “It maybe the first suicide in Adakwas. The victim was under some stress. He is survived by his son and his body has been handed over to the family after the postmortem.”
