Man gets 20-year jail term for raping minor girl

Hisar: In a 16-month-old case of a 14-year-old minor girl's rape, the court of Fatehabad's additional and sessions judge, Special Judge-cum-Fast Track Court, Amit Garg, convicted Fatehabad resident Abhijeet and sentenced him to 20 years in prison. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,70,000, of which Rs 1,00,000 will be given to the victim. The court clarified that such crimes are a grave blow to society, and showing mercy to the accused would be a travesty of justice.
Fatehabad district attorney Devendra Mittal said the police registered an FIR on Oct 13, 2024, based on the complaint of the victim's father. According to the complaint, Abhijeet used to lure his daughter with food and drinks while she was on her way to school. In Sept, Abhijeet forcibly took his daughter to the fields near Chilli Lake, raped her, and, when she resisted, beat her and threatened to kill her.
