CHANDIGARH: At the time when children of his age would demand fancy gifts on their birthday, a seven-year-old boy had a strange demand — cutting the cake with BKU leader Rakesh Tikait. And this dream of the boy named Moksha came true on Tuesday when

Tikait

reached the

Mayyar

toll plaza.

Moksha is a Class 2 student and lives with his widowed mother Sudesh. His uncle, Kuldeep Sehrawat aka Kuldeep Kharar, is a well known farmer leader who had been leading the agitation at Mayyar plaza.

Moksha had turned six when his uncle had started going to Mayyar toll plaza with a gas stove and a few utensils. It was then that Moksha expressed his wish to celebrate his birthday with Tikait. To pursue his goal, he spent countless days not just at the toll plaza, but at Tikri and

Singhu

borders as well.

“ If it was his wish, then Tikait Sahab also obliged us. It was just because of Moksha he decided to keep date with us at the toll plaza. We had announced to end the agitation after cutting the cake. Tikait has termed Moksha as the major contributor towards farmers agitation,’’ said

.

Tikait said that this generation will ensure that farmers would never be taken lightly. Moksha too feels elated after posing with Tikait. “ It was only after the government had repealed the laws that I decided to celebrate my birthday on the toll plaza. Had the laws not been repealed, it would have been yet another day for me,’’ said Moksha, According to information, Moksha’s father hailed from Panghal village and had passed away when he was two years old.

“ He had been active since the first day. He would come with his maternal uncle and would help all. He would help in serving food, and would help elders with their needs as well. He wouldn't mind even cleaning utensils in the biting cold,’’ said

Reeman Nain

, a woman activist from Mayyar.
