MOHALI: Mohali Municipal Corporation is all set to revive water bodies under its jurisdiction under the restoration and rejuvenation scheme of the Punjab government. The rough cost estimate for revival and annual maintenance of the two water bodies in

has been prepared, said MC commissioner

He also said that the tendering process for revival of water bodies has been initiated. "We have called for expressions of interest from parties for restoration and rejuvenation of two water bodies under MC limits in Mohali. The rough cost estimate calculated for the two water bodies is Rs 2.67 crore. Restoration of the water bodies will include removal of weeds and wild growth. Later, we may go in for fish breeding," he said.

There are two water bodies under MC limits and both are situated in Sohana village. One water body will be restored at a cost of Rs 1.05 crore while the other will be restored at a cost of Rs 1.21 crore.

The MC has four water bodies in recently inducted villages under its limit. It will take approval of the water bodies department for revival of these water bodies. The three villages which have been included under MC limits are

Balongi

,

Barmajra

and

Baryali

. The MC commissioner said that these water bodies will also be made sources of income for the civic body. Another meeting will be held to chalk out plans before bringing the agenda in the MC house meet. A big water body falls under the jurisdiction of Mohali administration at

Mote Majra

village.
