Now, Dec 20 summons for Badals, Cheema

Hoshiarpur: After summons sent to former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, former deputy CM and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal and party secretary Dr Daljit Singh Cheema could not be served, the Hoshiarpur additional chief judicial magistrate Monica Sharma issued orders for summoning them on December 20.

Badal duo and Cheema are facing charges of cheating, forgery and conspiracy in the case of using two different constitutions of SAD and submitting these to different statutory bodies. The court found that the preliminary evidence showed that a constitution was submitted to the Election Commission of India without actually amending the party constitution and a false undertaking was given, while SAD later submitted its old constitution for contesting gurdwara elections.

The court issued the summons after examining the records of the Election Commission (EC), chief commissioner of gurdwara elections, which conducts Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) polls; and the directorate of gurdwara elections, which conducts Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections. It also checked SAD’s official records. The first order to summon them was issued on November 4.
