Over 200 deities to participate in Mandi's Shivaratri festival

Shimla: More than 200 deities will take part in the week-long Shivaratri festival of Mandi from February 27 to March 5. An official informed that a total of 216 deities from the district were invited to the event, and most of them reached Mandi town by Tuesday evening.The festival will start with the grand procession of the deities on Thursday. The cultural evening programmes of the day festival will be held at Seri Stage. To ensure smooth movement of vehicles in and around the town during the festival, Mandi police released a traffic plan.No heavy vehicles and goods carriers, except buses, will be allowed to enter the core area of Mandi town except from 12 midnight to 6 am. All traffic will be regulated by a one-way system, and a number of diversions will be created to ensure no traffic jams occur, said a police officer.Meanwhile, on the occasion of Shivaratri, a Beas Aarti was held on Wednesday near the Panchvaktra Temple for the first time in Mandi.
