Excise and taxation officer Rakesh Batra told the cops that Rakesh Sharma, a resident of Sector 7 had furnished 'C' forms in the name of a Delhi-based dealer who purportedly issued C forms to him. The forms were allegedly issued by the department of trade and taxes, Delhi. After the scrutiny of forms, it was pointed out that the 'C' forms amounting to Rs 2.68 crore were fake.

After verification by the department, regarding the genuineness of the declaration in form 'C' from the office of assistant commissioner, department of trade and taxes, Vayapar Bhawan, New Delhi, they confirmed that these declaration forms were not issued by their office.

By doing so, the dealer defrauded the state exchanger to the extend of Rs 56,30,140.

Based on the complaint, a case under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the

Indian Penal Code

at Sector 5 police station.
