Punjab women commission takes serious notice of singer Jazzy B’s new song

CHANDIGARH: Taking suo motu notice of the new song of Punjabi singer Jazzy B going viral on social media, which reportedly contains derogatory remarks against women, the Punjab State Commission for Women has sought a report from the Punjab police’s bureau of investigation within a week.

Jaswinder Singh Bains, popularly known as Jazzy B, who has his roots in Nawanshahr, is a popular Punjabi singer settled in Canada.

Taking a serious view of the contents of the song “Madak Shakeena Di” sung by Jazzy B and written by Jeet Kaddon Wala, the commission chairperson Raj Lali Gill noticed that the word “Bhede” (sheep) has been used for women in the song which is a derogatory word which will not send a good message to the society. As the commission feels that the singer as well as the lyricist of the song have tried to insult the women, Punjab police’s bureau of investigation has been asked to submit a report within a week under The Punjab State Commission for Women Act, 2001.
