Rohtak zila parishad members support sarpanchs’ body on AIJASS boycott

Rohtak: Lending support to a faction of the Rohtak Sarpanch Association, which raised objection on the rally of All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS), the zila parishad (ZP)members and chairpersons of block samitis have also decided also announced to boycott the Jat body’s rally on November 26.

Jat body president Yashpal Malik has proposed a rally at Jassia village in Rohtak district, which was epicentre during the Jat agitation for reservation to lay foundation stone of a skill centre in the name of peasant leader Sir Chhotu Ram.

Malik would address a public meeting on the occasion and AIJASS has invited politicians cutting across party lines. It has, however, boycotted Jat leaders from the ruling BJP in Haryana. These include Captain Abhimanyu and party’s state unit president Subhash Barala.

In a press release on Wednesday, the Rohtak zila parishad members and chairpersons of block samitis, who had gathered at the Zila Vikas Bhawan here, said the AIJASS had lost its original track for which it was given support.

Meenu Hooda, ZP councillor from ward No 6, said AIJASS’s real purpose was to release Jat youths languishing in jails, treatment to the injured during the quota stir, help in legal cases and action against those who were spoiling the atmosphere on the pretext of caste.

Sanjay Singh from ward No 4, said they supported the demand of questioning AIJASS over diversion of funds collected during the Jat agitation for purchasing land, holding rallies and spitting venom against the incumbent government.

The ZP members said they had appealed to the government to put a check on AIJASS chief Malik and Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini for holding rallies every second month and causing unrest. The members also passed a resolution in which they called for a boycott AIJASS rally on November 26 and urged the public to maintain distance from it.

Sumit Kumar, who was removed by the Rohtak Sarpanch Association last week unceremoniously after he raised objection on diversion of funds, said he was getting overwhelming support from all quarters owing to the fact that he stands for justice and truth. “People are not with me, they are with the truth and justice,” he added.
