SKM to hold mahapanchayat in Haryana's Fatehabad

JIND: Sanyukt kisan morcha (SKM) an umbrella body of farmers scheduled a mahapanchayat in Haryana's Tohana town of Fatehabad district on January 4 in which over 400 organisations across the nation will take part to press the demands, said farmer leaders.

Suresh Koth SKM, member held a press conference at jat dharmshala of Jind district on Tuesday where he made it plain that Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Darshan Pal, Rakesh Tikait and many other leaders from different states will take part in the mahapanchayat which is called for three issues.

Farmers across Haryana are holding meetings in all districts to ensure a large turnout at the Maha Panchayat in Tohana, he said.

Suresh Koth also mentioned that during the 13-month-long farmers' protest in Delhi, the government had announced the formation of a draft committee for the MSP law, but no such committee has been formed yet. The NDA government is seeking to bring back three laws again though back door a draft has been formed for this. Moreover, decesion for the ongoing farmers's agitation at Haryana Punjab borders issue is included in the agenda of mahapanchayat.

Farmers will mull over next course of action as Prime minister Narendra Modi led government is seeking to implement three black laws which will not be accepted. Farmers will oppose strongly any such draft. Major action would be taken in case of decesion taken against farmers by the centre. Around 450 organisations are still united across the nation and closely watching the move of NDA government. Therefore, farmers will mull over to make strategy to launch fresh protest under the banner of SKM, he added.

Suresh Koth raised questions about Jagjit Dallewal's non-political front.

The SKM has formed a umbrella body and it is in favor of unity, but the non-political front is not with them. However, the government should not act dictatorially with the protesting farmers and should start a dialogue. The government should work to fulfill the farmers' demands, said farmer leaders while addressing media persons.
