JALANDHAR: Punjab Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the May 5 explosion outside the BSF Punjab Frontier headquarters in Jalandhar.
Police identified the suspects as Anil Kumar from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, and Umardin from Mohali. While senior officers remain tightlipped, sources said the two had placed the explosive material.
Police suspect the duo to be part of a larger conspiracy involving additional planners and handlers.
The blast near the gate of the BSF headquarters minutes had set a parked scooter on fire and left a delivery boy for an ecommerce platform, injured. He was later cleared of any involvement after questioning.
Around two hours later, another blast took place an explosion near the boundary wall of the Army cantonment on Khasa Road in Amritsar.
The twin blasts triggered a political storm as Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann linked BJP to the blasts while BJP, Congress and SAD cornered the AAP govt over law and order.
Soon after CM’s remarks, the AAP leadership and ecosystem pushed this narrative very strongly. BJP reacted strongly and held protests, demanding registration of an FIR against the CM.
