Two killed as truck crush them in Sadhaura area of Yamunanagar amid fog

YAMUNANAGAR: Two bike-borne persons were killed and one was injured as a truck hit them from behind amid fog near Asgarpur village on Kala Amb-Sadhaura road in Yamunanagar district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Mahender of Ramdasia Mohalla, Sadhaura and Sudesh Devi of Sadiqpur village in Yamunanagar district. The injured man has been identified as Varun of Sadhaura, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kala Amb.

The incident took place at about 9 am, when there was dense fog in the region.

As per the information, the two deceased persons and the injured worked at an industrial area in Kala Amb and they were on their way to jobs when the accident took place. Mahender and Sudesh were traveling on the same bike and the former had given lift to the latter for going to work. When they reached near Asgarpur village, they were crushed by a moving truck which came from behind. The truck moved over both the persons, leaving Mahender dead on the spot. Sudesh and Varun were rushed to the hospital at Nahan and Kala Ambala, respectively, in injured condition. Sudesh later died while Varun is undergoing treatment. The truck driver fled the spot leaving his vehicle behind.

On receiving the information, the police also reached the spot and took Mahender’s body into custody for post-mortem. The truck has been taken into possession by the police and further investigation to trace the driver is being done.

Sadhaura SHO Amit Kumar said that the dead bodies of deceased Mahender and Sudesh were handed over to their families after post-mortem. A case has been registered and investigation is being done to identify and arrest the accused driver.
