Woman held for killing husband & brother-in-law, cops say extramarital ties involved
Hisar: The Hisar police have cracked a case concerning the murder of Madan Lal, an elderly resident of Mangali Akalan village, whose body was discovered on the roadside approximately a week ago. The police have apprehended three individuals — the wife of the deceased's younger brother and her two accomplices. During interrogation, the accused also confessed to strangling the deceased's younger brother, who was the husband of the woman accused. CIA in-charge Sub-Inspector Karan Singh stated that the arrested accused were identified as Rekha, a resident of Mangali village, and Mandeep and Pravesh, both residents of Mehanda village. According to police sources, the accused woman was involved in a extramarital relationship. On Oct 25, Madan Lal, a resident of Mangali Akalan village, was found unconscious on Putthi Road with severe injuries. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Acting on a complaint lodged by the deceased's son, Jaichand, the Azad Nagar Police registered a case under relevant provisions pertaining to murder. In his complaint, Jaichand stated that his uncle Sarjeet's first wife had died about 18 years ago, following which he married Rekha. Approximately a month prior to the incident, Sarjeet also passed away. Thereafter, Jaichand's father Madan Lal took responsibility for Rekha's care. On the night of October 25, Madan Lal went to his sister-in-law Rekha's residence on his scooter and was later found dead.During interrogation, the accused persons confessed that they murdered Madan Lal in a premeditated and planned manner. As per their plan, Rekha informed Mandeep and Pravesh about Madan Lal's expected arrival at her house. The two male accused then arrived in a car and deliberately struck Madan Lal's scooter. After he fell to the ground, they assaulted him with an iron pipe, causing severe head injuries that resulted in his death. The accused subsequently fled from the scene. The investigation further revealed that Mandeep is employed in the vehicle finance sector, Pravesh is a final-year student of political Science, and Rekha is engaged in manual labour. The three accused jointly executed the crime in a planned and coordinated manner. The police also ascertained that the same accused had earlier strangled Rekha's husband, Surjit, to death a few days prior to this incident. MSID: 125017004 413 |
