Tamil Nadu: Abandoned new born male child rescued in Madurai

CHENNAI: A newborn male child abandoned on a roadside was rescued by the

on Sunday.

Police sources said that a shepherd found the child in

Sivaganga Road

at Varichur and alerted the local police. A team from the Karuppayurani police station reached there and shifted the baby to

Government Rajaji Hospital

. The child was found inside wrapped in a towel.

and L Shanmugam reached the hospital and received the child. Doctors said that the child could have been born a week ago. The child was kept at the hospital for

treatment

and observation.

After the treatment the child will be shifted to an adoption home in the city, child welfare committee members said.
