AIADMK, BJP leaders hit out at Vijay
Chennai: AIADMK and BJP leaders continued their attack on TVK president Vijay for criticising the two parties.AIADMK organising secretary D Jayakumar questioned Vijay's claims of being non corrupt, alleging that he was running the party with ``lottery funds,' a reference to TVK general secretary Aadhav Arjuna who was lottery baron Santiago Martin's son - in - law.
Speaking to reporters after paying floral tributes to former chief minister C N Annadurai on his 57th death anniversary, Jayakumar criticised Vijay for dancing at TVK's anniversary event `without any remorse for the death of 41 people in the Karur stampede.' Accusing Vijay of being insensitive to the emotions of the victims' families, Jayakumar asked if the actor had considered how they would feel watching him dance. On Vijay choosing to ignore AIADMK and stating that the assembly election was a fight between DMK and TVK, Jayakumar said the actor - politician was trying to project himself as a key challenger, `which is not true'. ``Vijay's statements only remind actor Vadivelu's comedy where he claims to be a rowdy and wants police to arrest him too along with other rowdies,'' Jayakumar said. "Vijay lacks leadership qualities," he said.AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran also slammed Vijay for calling the AIADMK regime "corrupt". "If he wants to remove the DMK from power, let him work for that. But he should not attack the previous AIADMK regime and call it corrupt," he said. Dhinakaran said Vijay's remark was ironic, as he has inducted former AIADMK minister K A Sengottaiyan into TVK. Taunting the actor, Dhinakaran wanted Vijay to step out of his Panayur house and meet the people to understand the state's ground reality.Former BJP state president K Annamalai too hit out at Vijay. Responding to Vijay's remark that TVK was the "top engine" while others were "dubba" and "broken" engines in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai asked whether Vijay had an engine at all. ``Is there even a key to start that engine, or a chassis to mount it on?" he asked. "I do not see the depth or substance in his speeches. What is his policy? What is his programme? What will he do for Tamil Nadu? What will he do that was not done so far? I do not see that," he said.
