CHENNAI: BJP is the only party that lacks “a self-starter” in Tamil Nadu and it should be ashamed of using photographs of AIADMK leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa in their campaign posters in Puducherry, said AIADMK spokesman D Jayakumar. He spoke to reporters in Chennai after the birth anniversary celebrations of Jayalalithaa on Sunday.
When asked about use of MGR and Jayalalithaa in posters in Puducherry, he said, “BJP should be ashamed of trying to fool people by using photographs of our leaders along with their leaders,” said Jayakumar.
The fight in TN was between two Dravidian parties (AIADMK and DMK), and BJP had no show in it, he said. Meanwhile, TN BJP president, Annamalai said he would not be able to comment on the issue as it happened in Puducherry. However, he said BJP has always acknowledged the virtues of leaders irrespective of their political affiliation.
He said BJP govt has awarded Bharat Ratna to leaders like P V Narasimha Rao and Pranab Mukherjee who were from Congress.
