Chennai gets its own Kew Garden

Chennai: Very soon Kadambur near Maraimalar Nagar in Chengalpet district will become a major tourist attraction. Thanks to the setting up of a botanical garden similar to that of the Kew Gardens, London, which will come up in the village.An MoU was signed between the TN government and the Kew Gardens here on Thursday. Forest secretary Supriya Sahu said told TOI 137.65 hectares (300 plus acres) of land belonging to the revenue department were handed over to the forest department for setting up the garden.Sahu said 8 different types of gardens including native species gardens with be set up.
