Chennai rain: Minister hands over financial aid to kin of deceased

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu municipal administration minister K N Nehru on Friday handed over Rs 4 lakh each to the families of two victims of rain-related accidents in Chennai.


Families of Shanthi of Prakash Rao Street in Pulianthope, who died after her house’s ceiling collapsed on her, and C Devendran of PV Kalyani Street in Perambur, who was electrocuted, received the financial aid.

The minister visited Tondiarpet’s Ezhil Nagar, Buckingham Canal, Ambedkar Nagar, Elaya Street, Royapuram’s RT Bridge areas and few other nearby places.

During the inspection, mayor R Priya, corporation commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi, North Chennai MP Kalanidhi Veerasamy, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar constituency MLA Thayagam Kavi, R K Nagar MLA JJ Ebenezer and others were present.
