CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Friday appointed special officers of the newly created districts as

collectors

of the respective districts.

In an order, chief secretary K Shanmugam sanctioned the creation of temporary posts of collector in

Kallakurichi

,

Tenkasi

,

Chengalpet

,

Tirupattur

and

Ranipet

districts in the senior scale of IAS for a period of one year with effect from the date of functioning of the new district or till the need for them cease, whichever is earlier.

Kiran Gurrala, special officer of Kallakurichi, is posted as collector of the same district. Others are G K Arun Sundar Thayalan (Tenkasi), A John Louis, (Chengalpet), M P Sivanarul (Tirupattur), and S Divyadharshini (Ranipet).

The state government on Wednesday issued orders redrawing the boundaries of the five districts which were carved out of Kancheepuram, Tirunelveli, Villupuram and Vellore districts. In the process, five new taluks and five revenue divisions have been created.
