CoP launches cyber alert app

Chennai: Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal on Wednesday launched a cyber alert mobile application, developed in-house, to classify and group cybercrime complaints and details of offenders for the benefit of investigating officers.
The app will be fed details on phone numbers, bank account numbers and e-mail ids of cybercrime offenders. If the details crop up in other cases, the app will automatically group those cases and alert investigators and senior officials.
This will help officers to keep a tab on cyber crime cases and guide the investigating team accordingly.
As the number of cyber crime cases increases, this app can help in classifying different kind of cases, a senior officer said.
While the app will be used by the Chennai police, it is also expected to be implemented for use by personnel in police districts across the state. tnn
