CHENNAI: Chennai city police commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore met Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi on Thursday, a day after a rowdy hurled a crude bomb at the main gate of Raj Bhavan.
On Wednesday night, governor’s deputy secretary Dr T Sengottaiyan filed a complaint with Rathore. In his complaint, Sengottaiyan alleged that there was a serious attack on the governor. He also alleged that the police had not initiated serious action when many people had made abusive and threatening remarks against the governor and the cops treated them as minor cases. The bomb-hurling incident had raised serious questions on the safety of the governor, he stated.
Rathore entered the Raj Bhavan campus around 10.40am and left around 11.20am. He said it was an official meeting and was not related to the bomb-hurling incident.
The Guindy police arrested M Vinod alias Karukka Vinod, 42, of Teynampet for hurling the crude bomb at Raj Bhavan’s main gate on Wednesday afternoon. He came out on bail a few days ago after being arrested for hurling a bomb at the BJP state headquarters in T Nagar.
