First Singappenn case: Man held for sexually assaulting neighbour

Chennai: The newly launched Singappen Special Force (SSF) nabbed a man after he entered his neighbour’s house and sexually assaulted a woman on Wednesday afternoon. The accused was handed over to the Ayanavaram all-women police, where a case was registered before he was arrested and remanded. The case marks the first involving the SSF.

The accused, B Suresh, 36, a security guard working with a private company, barged into the house of his neighbour around 2.30pm and sexually assaulted the woman. The neighbours rushed to the spot after the woman raised the alarm and informed the police.

A team, comprising sub-inspector Rajeshwari and woman police constable Deepika, reached the scene, recorded the victim’s account, identified the suspect, and arrested him without delay. Chennai city commissioner of police A Amalraj commended the SSF team for its swift response and quick action in nabbing the accused.
