Madras HC instructs police not to arrest AIADMK ex-min M Manikandan

CHENNAI: The Madras high court orally instructed the city police not to arrest former AIADMK minister

M Manikandan

in

connection

with a case of alleged sexual abuse and threats filed by an actor. The actor said Manikandan cheated her after promising marriage.

Justice R Subramanian passed the oral order while hearing an anticipatory bail application moved by the former minister apprehending arrest in connection with the case.

Manikandan said there was not an iota of truth in the allegations levelled against him and the entire complaint and the accompanying documents were concocted after several attempts at compromise with extortionist demands were not accepted by the petitioner herein.

He added that the allegations made against the petitioner do not constitute the ingredients of the offence under Section 313 (Causing miscarriage without woman's consent) of

IPC
