’s pattina pravesam (palanquin event) function, Madras high court has directed the adheenam to give a representation to the district authorities seeking necessary protection for the function.
A vacation bench of the court, comprising Justice

Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy
, further directed the district collector and superintendent of police to provide security to the event on receipt of such a representation.
The pattina pravesam event is in the limelight after the revenue divisional officer passed an order on April 27 saying the function could go on but the pontiff would not be allowed to be carried by people on the palanquin. Following an uproar, the government withdrew the ban on May 8.
However, in his present petition,
Raja Sivaprakasam
of Villivakkam recalled an April 19 event when the convoy of
Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi came under attack from protesters.
He sought a direction to authorities to provide adequate protection to Dharmapuram Adheenam mutt and other adheenam mutts in Tamil Nadu.
