Man, daughter die as truck hits their bike in Chennai

CHENNAI: A man and his

daughter

were killed in an accident while his wife and another daughter escaped with minor injuries near

Mamandur

in Maduranthagam late on Saturday night.

The deceased were identified as Balasubramanian, 32 and his Nithyashree, 5. His wife Chithra, 28, and two-year-old daughter Kavyashree escaped the accident.

Police said the family was planning for an ear-piercing event for their younger daughter and had gone to the market to purchase clothes for them. The function was scheduled to be held next week.

After shopping, they were on their way home on a bike. When they reached Mamandur, a speeding

truck

hit them from behind at 8 pm, police said. While Chithra and Kavyashree fell on the side of the road, Balasubramanian and Nithyashree came under the rear wheel of the truck. They died on the spot. The truck driver was booked.
