CHENNAI: Metrowater had reduced 60 lakh litres of water from its daily supply to several consumers this year, vis-a-vis the corresponding period of the last year.
On April 14, 2022, Metrowater supplied 1,034 mld to its consumers, which is now 1,028 mld. Residents in many areas, especially in South Chennai, have voiced concern about erratic supply of Metrowater in the past couple of weeks
Shekhar Raghavan, a resident of Kalakshetra Colony in Besant Nagar, said water supply has been badly affected in that area as many houses and flats are not getting water regularly for almost two months. "The supply is very erratic," he said.
A senior official from Metrowater said they are checking the pipelines for blocks and trying to rectify the problem of supply. "It is high time Metrowater replaces its old pipelines," said a resident.
