Passenger train derails in Tamil Nadu, no casualties

NEW DELHI: Five coaches of a passenger train travelling from Villupuram to Puducherry derailed near Villupuram railway station on Tuesday morning, according to railway officials.

A major accident was averted as the train came to an immediate halt following a loud noise.
According to officials, all passengers were safely evacuated without injury.

Railway staff and engineers promptly arrived at the scene and began work to repair the derailed train.

The affected route has since been cleared for other train services.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident, examining whether it resulted from a technical fault or possible sabotage.
