Puducherry govt fixes fees for PG, UG medical, dental courses
PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government has fixed fees for postgraduate medical (clinical and non-clinical), postgraduate dental (clinical and para clinical), MBBS, BDS and B Sc nursing courses in unaided private self-financing colleges for the academic year 2023-24.
The government has fixed the fees following the recommendations of the fees committee headed by retired Madras high court judge Justice S Kannammal.
The government has fixed Rs 23.9 lakh as annual fees under management quota and Rs 7.95 lakh fees under government quota for PG medical (clinical) course, Rs 13.05 lakh as fees under management quota and Rs 6.55 lakh fees under government quota for PG medical (non-clinical) course in all the three private medical colleges.
It has fixed Rs 14 lakh as fees under management quota and Rs 6.22 lakh under government quota for PG dental (clinical) course, Rs 7.19 lakh as fees under management quota and Rs 5.53 lakh under government quota for PG dental (para clinical) courses in two private dental colleges.
It has fixed Rs 21 lakh as fees under NRI quota, Rs 16.8 lakh fees under management quota and Rs 4 lakh as fees under government quota for MBBS course in all the three private medical colleges.
The fee for BSc nursing course was fixed at Rs 42,000 in all the three nursing colleges.
"It is an all-inclusive annual fee, including various fees like admission fee, tuition fee, special fee, laboratory/ computer/ maintenance and amenities fee, extracurricular activities fees and other recurring expenditure," said undersecretary (health) K Candane alias Sivaradjane.
The educational institutions must not collect any kind of extra fees under any guise, except the fees fixed by the committee. Any deviation will result in violation of the orders of the Supreme Court of India and stringent action will be taken against the managements of such institutions by the appropriate authorities - Puducherry government, National medical commission (NMC) and the Puducherry University. The penal action for violation shall also include withdrawal of approval by the NMC and disaffiliation by the university concerned along with a hefty fine, it said.
