Railways to run Maha Kumbh Mela special trains

CHENNAI: Special trains have been announced to handle the additional rush of passengers during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh. These services will provide extra travel options for devotees travelling to key pilgrimage centres like Varanasi and Lucknow.

No 06019 Mangaluru Central–Varanasi Weekly Special will depart at 4.15am on Jan 18 and Feb 15, 2025 (Saturdays) and reach Varanasi at 2.50pm on the third day.

In the return direction, No 06020 Varanasi–Mangaluru Central Weekly Special will leave at 6.20pm on Jan 21 and Feb 18 (Tuesdays), arriving at 2.30am on the fourth day.

No 06071 Dr MGR Chennai Central–Gomti Nagar Weekly Special will leave at 2.20pm on Jan 18, Feb 15 and March 1 (Saturdays) and arrive at Gomti Nagar at 2.15pm on the third day.

In the return direction, No 06072 Gomti Nagar–Dr MGR Chennai Central Weekly Special will depart at 3.45am on Jan 21, Feb 18 and March 4 (Tuesdays), reaching Chennai Central at 11.55pm the next day.

These trains will consist of 10 AC three-tier coaches, seven sleeper coaches, one luggage cum brake van and one second-class coach and a Divyangjan-friendly coach.
