S Rly adds 20 new parking facilities
Chennai: Southern railway's Chennai division has commissioned 20 new parking facilities during the financial year 2025-26, taking the total number of authorised parking locations from 106 to 126. A key highlight is the multilevel parking facility at Chengalpet railway station, built over 820.32sqm, to handle heavy passenger footfall.The facilities have been set up at several stations, including Vandalur, Potheri, Avadi, Tambaram East, Chengalpet, Perambur, Guindy and St Thomas Mount, among others. Some stations, such as Chengalpet and Perambur, are also part of development works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.The parking areas are equipped with digital ticketing systems, UPI-based payment options and CCTV surveillance to improve safety and convenience.
