Sasikala vs Panneerselvam: Top 10 developments

1. The Madras High Court sought the Tamil Nadu government's response to allegations that AIADMK MLAs were being illegally detained in a resort near Chennai and 20 of them were on a fast.

2. AIADMK removed E Madusudhanan from his post as presidium chairman and from the party's primary membership for backing acting chief minister O Panneerselvam. Former minister and senior leader KA Sengottaiyan has been appointed the new presidium chairman.

3. E Madhusudanan sent a petition to the Election Commission not to recognise VK Sasikala as general secretary of AIADMK, as she was not a party member for a period of five consecutive years.

4. Top government and police officials today met with Governor Vidyasagar Rao and apprised him of the present political situation in the state. The meeting lasted for about 45 minutes.

5. A section of AIADMK MLAs owing allegiance to Sasikala dismissed media reports and allegations from the Panneerselvam camp that they were being "detained" at a resort near here, and asserted that they were "free".

6. Srivaikundam MLA SP Shanmuganathan, a supporter of Panneerselvam, filed a police complaint on the issue of the whereabouts of legislators who had allegedly been spirited off to a resort on V K Sasikala's orders.

7. AIADMK Spokesperson Vaigaichelvan attacked O Panneerselvam and said, "Even Amma's soul will not forgive Panneerselvam for trying to split the party." He also claimed that the DMK had engineered Panneerselvam's revolt.

9. The Supreme Court refused to give an urgent hearing on a PIL seeking to restrain Sasikala from being sworn in as Tamil Nadu chief minister till it decides the disproportionate assets case against her.

Sasikala called on the Governor , Vidyasagar Rao, on Thursday night and gave him the letter staking claim to form government and containing the names of MLAs who elected her as AIADMK Legislature Party leader on Sunday. She also submitted individual letters of support furnished by her party MLAs. Before meeting with Sasikala, the Governor was briefed by Panneerselvam , who later told reporters, "Good will prevail."
